In December 1894, the Brunswick Road District, embracing the area north of the Collie River, was set apart from the Wellington Road District. Foundation members of the Board were William Reading (Chairman), William Marriott, David Marriott, Algernon Clifton, Robert Rose Junior, Arthur Perren and Joseph Logue. The Board's name was changed to the Harvey District Board in 1909. In 1963 the name of the Board finally changed to that of Shire of Harvey.
