Proposal for Relocation of the Binningup Bush Fire Brigade Shed

The Shire of Harvey welcomes funding from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services to upgrade the Binningup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade shed.  The funding is anticipated to see a new Fire Brigade shed built in time for the 2018/19 fire season.  Council has been approached by the Binningup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade to consider an alternative location for the new facility, being part of Lot 1, Lakes Parade.

The specific location on that property, which is owned by the Shire of Harvey, is to the south of the Bowling Club and Country Club and adjacent to existing Basketball Courts.  The area is flat and cleared and has ample room for parking with an existing overflow parking area located between the site and the Country Club.

The proposed new location would provide a central position for the location of firefighting resources in the community as well as concentrating the majority of community based entities in the one area.  With the current fire station being in a high potential fire area in terms of high volume vegetation to the north east, the new site proposed would have easier and safer access.

Council is seeking comments from members of the community on this proposal by no later than Tuesday 14th November, 2017.  Comments can be provided by post (PO Box 500 Harvey WA 6220), email shire@harvey.wa.gov.au or there is a link on Council’s website where comments can be made www.harvey.wa.gov.au.
