Proposed Policy -Trading in Public Places Policy for Food Vendors

NOTICE OF PROPOSED POLICY

 TRADING IN PUBLIC PLACES POLICY FOR FOOD VENDORS

Council has prepared a draft policy outlining a framework and guidance for the consistent assessment and issuing of permits for traders and stallholders offering food related goods and services for sale in public place.

The objectives of the draft policy are to:-

1.  Provide the Council with a consistent framework to regulate the location of stallholders and traders offering food or food related goods and services for sale in public places within the Shire of Harvey.
2.  Provide a framework for Council nominated sites, at various foreshore locations, by introducing Power to Licence areas. This being is a category of permit where the permit fee is based on  an appraisal determined according to economic market trends and conditions.
3.  Encourage a high standard of service delivery to the local community and visitors whilst supporting local economic development, commercial viability, public safety and taking account of  existing permanent businesses.
