Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Supervisor Engineering Services.

The Supervisor will lead and manage the Engineering Operations Services team who are responsible for the construction and maintenance of the Shire’s capital works and maintenance programs within the Shire to an exceptionally high standard and in a safe and efficient manner.

Position Requirements

To be considered for this role you will need the following:

  • Qualifications in a relevant area or demonstrated minimum five years’ experience in a similar role combined with ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills and experience with negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Understanding to promote and support a culture of quality customer service that identifies and responds quickly and provides appropriate solutions.
  • Previous experience leading and developing a team, managing budgets, grants and assets.
  • Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity Regulations.
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance standards methods and practises.
  • Construction Safety Awareness Certificate (White Card).

Benefits

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government Officers’ Award 2021 with a salary payable of Level 9 ($93,972 to $99,180) per annum, depending on qualifications and experience and benefits such as:

  • Superannuation of 10.5 per cent occupational superannuation from date of commencement, with an opportunity that the Shire will match an employee’s voluntary contribution to their nominated plan provided that employee contributes an amount of at least 5 per cent or 6 per cent of their own salary.
  • Private use of a Shire vehicle in accordance with Shire Policy.
  • A mobile phone for business use in accordance with Shire Policy.
  • Professional memberships up to the value of $200.
  • Professional development up to the value of $500.
  • Full-time position 76 hours per fortnight. Hours of work are 7.00am to 4.00pm with a daily component of overtime, located at the Harvey Depot.
  • Four weeks paid annual leave, including a 17½ per cent leave loading.
  • One rostered day off is available after every 19 working days.  Rostered days off cannot be accumulated.
  • Free membership to the Leschenault Leisure Centre, the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre and the Dr Peter Topham Memorial Swimming Pool.   
  • Prior to appointment, the Officer will be required to undertake a medical examination with a Doctor of choice at Shire’s cost.  The appointment to the position is not confirmed until a medical is completed including Shire’s standard questionnaire and accepted in accordance with Shire Policy.
  • A Police Clearance will be required to be provided to the Shire prior to confirmation of appointment not more than three months old, at the Shire’s cost.
