Waste Facility Operator – Casual

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the casual position of Waste Facility Operator at the Richardson Road Waste Facility in Harvey.

This position is responsible for providing a comprehensive waste operations service to the community on a day to day and all weather basis in accordance with adopted management plans and as directed by the Manager Waste and Safety Services.

Position Requirements

To be considered for this role you will need the following:

  • Demonstrated minor plant operator skill level with significant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in estimating volumes and quantities.
  • Proven ability to make technical and operational decisions relating to own work requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to Work Health and Safety requirements in a waste environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working under limited supervision.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Municipal Employees’ (WA) Award 2021 with a salary payable for this position of Level 3 up to $34.51 per hour inclusive of 20% casual loading. This positon is Monday to Sunday. Ordinary hours of work performed on a Saturday shall be paid an extra 25% and 50% on a Sunday.

Prior to appointment, the Officer will be required to undertake a medical examination with a Doctor of choice at Shire’s cost.  The appointment to the position is not confirmed until a medical is completed including Shire’s standard questionnaire and accepted in accordance with Shire Policy.

A Police Clearance will be required to be provided to the Shire prior to confirmation of appointment not more than three months old, at the Shire’s cost.
