Rhymetime and Storytime

Great news!

Rhymetime and Storytime is back in the library for 2021 but with a twist. You must book your spot. Due to COVID restrictions, we can only accommodate a limited number in the library space, so bookings are essential. Please note : Once capacity is reached for that day, bookings will close and you will be placed on the next available session. To avoid disappointment, please contact your local library to book before visiting us on the day.

We can't wait to welcome all our families and children back in the library again!

Libraries are not just about reading. We encourage parents to interact with their children through singing, rhymes and talking as well.

Better Beginnings family literacy program

Shire of Harvey Libraries are pleased to be part of the Better Beginnings initiative.

The Better Beginnings Family Literacy Program is an initiative coordinated by the State Library of WA and partially funded by Rio Tinto WA Future Fun. The program aims to foster the love to read, write, sing and talk with your child.

The Better beginnings program encourages parents to support their child by:

  • Reading aloud together everyday
  • Talking about the story and the pictures
  • Choosing books together at your local library

Free reading kits are available for parents of newborns and two year olds:

  • For newborns – collect your kit from your community health care nurse
  • For two year olds – collect your kit from any Shire of Harvey library.

There are some great literacy resources you and your child can access on the Better Beginnings website.
