“ARMISTICE” 1918 TO 2018
2018 marks 100 years since the end of the First World War. The end of the First World War (Armistice) is acknowledged every year in Australia on the 11th November – Remembrance Day. On the 11th November 1918, the war ended after more than four years. More than 32,200 Western Australians enlisted for service in the First World War.
The Harvey RSL Sub-Branch conducted a Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Harvey War Memorial on this day. During the service, the Shire President Cr Tania Jackson unveiled a new plaque which has been installed at the War Memorial to commemorate the Armistice. A new Armistice Bell was then rung in recognition of the service personnel who did not return.
