Inspirational story about Florence Nightingale, famous for being the ‘Lady with the Lamp’ who laid the foundation of professional nursing.

Florence – The Early Years is the story of Florence Nightingale, undoubtedly the most inspirational Nurse of all time who went on to become known as the ‘lady with the lamp’. Florence is recognized as being a leader in her field and the most influential individual in relation to implementing sweeping changes to the treatment of the sick and frail. Florence changed the design of hospitals, developed the field of preventive medicine and had an immense impact on nursing and healthcare as we know it today.

The Music Room Performing Arts are proud to present this incredible story of the pioneer of modern Nursing. With a cast of 25 local children and adults, along with local writers, choreographers, music teachers, artists, prop builders and back-stage personnel, Florence – The Early Years is a must see performance this May.

The play itself tracks the early years of Florence, her childhood dreams, her teenage confusion and her ultimate commitment to take a small band of 38 nurses into the chaos that was hospitals, during the Crimean War.

Date and time: Friday, 27 May at 7.30pm and Saturday, 28 May 2022 at 7.30pm.

Location: Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre (Function Room).

Tickets: $25 Adult, $20 Concession, $10 Student. Dinner and Show option available for Saturday's session.
