The Shire's Access and Inclusion Plan has been adopted by Council outlining our commitment to working collaboratively with our access community.

The Shire has an ongoing aspiration to becoming the most accessible community in regional Western Australia. Our Access and Inclusion Plan Even Better, Together 2021-2026 is the first part of our road map in reaching towards that vision. As we embark on this journey, working with our access community plays an important role in collaboratively shaping an accessible and inclusive future for everyone.

The Shire of Harvey’s Access and Inclusion Plan Even Better, Together 2021-2026 was developed in co-design with our community, including people living with a disability, family members, service providers, support groups and key organisations.

The plan sets out five key goals aimed at empowering our access community through providing opportunities to participate, contribute and thrive. These goals are:

Goal 1: Community Participation

  • Our community provides accessible services, events and activities that encourage social and community participation by people of all abilities.

Goal 2: Community Capacity Building

  • Our community helps us to understand and access support when we need it.

Goal 3: Accessible Communications and Information

  • Our community provides opportunities for all abilities to be connected to information and communications.

Goal 4: Inclusive Placemaking and Co-Design

  • Our community provides opportunities for all abilities to be connected to information and communications.

Goal 5: Access to Opportunity

  • Our community provides access to meaningful employment and education opportunities for people of all abilities.
