This website is designed to assist the local community, businesses and visitors to the region. Encompassing an area of approximately 1,766 km2 and a growing population of 26,787 (ABS, June 2014) the Shire of Harvey is located in the South West region of Western Australia, a leisurely one and a half hours drive from Perth.

The Shire of Harvey’s main Administration Centre is located on Uduc Road, Harvey and a Sub Administration Office on Mulgara Street, Australind.

Pursuant to Section 3.16 (2) of the local Government Act 1995 the Shire of Harvey provides State wide public notice that it is proposing to review the following Local Laws:

2.       Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2001
3.       Cemeteries Local Law 2000
4.       Control and Management of the Harvey Commonage (Reserve 22977) Local Law 1999
5.       Dogs Local Law 2001
6.       Extractive Industries Local Law 2007
7.       Fencing Local Law 2000
8.       Health Local Law 1997
9.       Local Government Property Local Law 2000
10.     Miscellaneous Provisions Local Law 2000
11.     Parking and Parking Facilities Local Law 2000
12.     Pest Plants Local Law 2011
13.     Signs and Other Advertising Devices Local Law 2007
14.     Standing Orders Local Law 2001

Copies of the Local Laws may be inspected or obtained from the Shire of Harvey Council offices in Harvey, 102 Uduc Road, or Australind, 7 Mulgara Street during normal office hours, or by downloading from Council’s website

Building Services relocating to Australind

Shire Building Services

The Shire of Harvey advises the public and its stakeholders that the Shire’s Building Department will be moving to the newly refurbished Australind Administration Office, Mulgara Street as from Monday, 21st December 2015.

What does this mean for our customers?

Whilst building staff will be physically located at the Australind Office they will continue to be available by pre-arranged appointment at either the Australind or Harvey Offices and will continue to undertake site inspections where required.  Appointments can be made by contacting Council’s Building Department on 9729 0330.

The existing postal address, telephone numbers and email contacts will remain the same.

The timing of the change is designed to minimise disruption,  however the patience and understanding of the public is sought during the transition period.

Regional Tourism Development Strategy

The Shire is inviting comments from tourist operators and other key stakeholders on the draft Regional Tourism Development Strategy.


The draft Strategy consists of the following three documents:

Bunbury Wellington and Boyup Brook Regional Tourism Development Strategy 2015 - 2019

Summary Report

Regional Action Pan and Regional Marketing Plan


If you would like the make comment in the draft Strategy you can do so by:

1. Sending an email to with the title "Draft Regional Tourism Development Strategy" in the subject line; or

2. Sending a letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Harvey, PO Box 500, HARVEY  WA  6220.


The closing date for receipt of comments is 29th February 2016.

Strategic Community Plan Review

Council at its meeting of 15th December 2015 endorsed its two yearly Desktop Review of its 2013 - 2023 Strategic Community Plan.  This is the main overall planning document of Council and this review provides an opportunity for members of the community to be updated on key indicators identified in the Plan.  The review also provides comments on the status of various actions identified in Council’s Corporate Business Plan. The “Action” references in the review document tie back to strategies in the Strategic Community Plan.

Harvey Swimming Pool

Harvey War Memorial and Dedication Ceremony

The new Harvey War Memorial was officially Dedicated on Sunday, 15th March 2015 at a Ceremony attended by more than 500 people.

The Dedication Ceremony was undertaken in time for the Memorial to be used for the 2015 Anzac Day Service which will mark the Centenary of the first landing of the ANZAC forces at Gallipoli.

Have you seen the new Memorial?  Why not pay a visit?  The site is lit at night and is quite something to see!


For an explanation of the design features and symbolism that have been included in the new Memorial, attached is the speech presented at the Dedication Ceremony by the Shire CEO, Michael Parker explaining these elements.
