A large amount of rubbish was collected by volunteers during the Binningup Beach clean-up on Sunday, 17 October.

The Binningup Coastcare and Environment Group, in partnership with the Shire of Harvey, held a Tangaroa Blue Beach clean-up on Sunday, 17 October. More than 50 people, including children, came along and lent a helping hand.

Some of the collected items included:

  • Approx. 1000 pieces of hard plastic.
  • Approx. 1000 pieces of soft plastic.
  • Fishing gear including rods, floats, crates, fishing line, hooks, sinkers and netting.
  • More than 200 plastic bottles including fuel and solvents.
  • More than 200 aluminium cans.
  • More than 100 shoes, including thongs.
  • Batteries, car parts and fuel drums.
  • 4 x shotgun cartridges, aerosol cans, golf balls.
  • A lot of plastic cups, nappies and sanitary towels.

A big thank you to Binningup Coastcare and Environment Group and the wonderful volunteers who participated and made a difference. Every collected piece of litter is one less piece in the ocean.
