| What do you enjoy most about teaching children to swim? I love making lessons fun and seeing children laugh, enjoy themselves and look forward to coming to swimming lessons. What do you think is the most important thing children gain from swimming lessons, beyond learning the strokes? Swimming lessons help children build confidence in themselves, as well as develop social skills they can use in everyday life. What’s your favourite moment to see during a child’s swimming journey? One of my favourite things is watching a child work towards a goal and finally achieve it. Seeing how proud and happy they feel when they realise what they’ve accomplished is so rewarding. How do you help children who might feel nervous or unsure in the water build their confidence? I stay by their side and provide support when they need it. I also find different ways to practise a skill, so they can build confidence at their own pace before they’re ready to try something more challenging. What keeps you motivated to teach swimming and help the next generation become confident and safe in the water? Knowing that I’m teaching children skills that could benefit them throughout their lives — and may one day help them save themselves or someone else — is really motivating. I’m also a swimmer myself, so I have a real passion for swimming and love helping others discover that same enjoyment of the water. |
