The "Voices of our Youth" photo exhibition is now open at the Australind Library.
It was an honour to have special guest Federal Member for Forrest Nola Marino MP to open the event on Monday, 12 December.
The exhibition features over 70 images created by young people living in the Shire who responded to the theme "What's important to YOUth".
The diversity of artwork we received made judging very difficult, and we want to thank each participant for making this exhibition possible.
Congratulations to the winners:
- First place – Elexia Challinger with her work "A Solitary Moment". Elexia described her work as "a time to refresh, to recharge and make the most of being alone. It is a place in time where we choose to reflect upon who we were, where we came from, our growth and who we want to become in the future. A moment in which we might feel lost in thought, yet we must guide ourselves."
- Second place – Ruby Williams and a photo of her furry friend Frankie. "This picture is important to me because Frankie is there for me whenever I need him and he is like a human to me", said Ruby.
- Third place – Isabelle Rose from Brunswick took third place with a "Youth" work.
The exhibition will be displayed at the Australind Library until Monday, 19 December, during opening hours.
