The Shire of Harvey is urging residents to become familiar with State Government e-Rideable guidelines.
e-Rideables are single-person electric devices like scooters, skateboards or hoverboards that are not capable of travelling faster than 25km/h on level ground.
Persons under the age of 16 are not permitted to use e-Rideables unless they are on private property or places that aren't public roads or pathways.
It is illegal to ride on:
- roads with a dividing line
- roads where the speed limit is more than 50km/h
- any path designated ‘no wheeled devices’
- any path or road where a ‘no bicycle’ sign or marking applies.
When using a separated path, e-Rideables should use the bicycle part. It is illegal to ride in the section marked for pedestrians.
The community can learn more about e-Rideables on the Road Safety Commission website.
