The Shire of Harvey Council has appointed highly experienced local government executive Mr Tony Nottle as Temporary Chief Executive Officer while the recruitment process for a permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is undertaken.
Mr Nottle will commence with the Shire on 6 July 2026, working alongside outgoing CEO Ms Annie Riordan to ensure a smooth leadership transition before formally assuming the role.
Mr Nottle brings more than two decades of senior local government leadership experience, having served as CEO of the City of Busselton, Shire of Dandaragan and Shire of Coolgardie. He is widely respected across the local government sector for his leadership, governance expertise and commitment to delivering positive outcomes for regional communities.
In addition to his executive leadership experience, Mr Nottle has served on several regional and sector boards, including Regional Development Australia South West, Regional Development Australia Wheatbelt, Local Government Professionals WA and the Wheatbelt Development Commission.
Shire President Michelle Campbell said Council was pleased to secure an executive of Mr Nottle’s calibre to lead the organisation during the transition period.
“Council is delighted to welcome Tony Nottle to the Shire of Harvey as Temporary CEO. His extensive experience across local government, combined with his strong governance and regional development background, makes him exceptionally well placed to guide the organisation during this important period.
“Tony has demonstrated leadership across a range of local governments and regional organisations, and Council is confident his knowledge and expertise will provide continued stability and strategic direction while we undertake the recruitment process for a permanent CEO.”
President Campbell said Council was committed to ensuring the recruitment of the Shire’s next permanent CEO was conducted independently and transparently.
“The recruitment process for our permanent CEO will be independently managed to ensure we attract the highest calibre candidates and secure the best possible leader for our organisation and community.
“While that process is underway, Tony’s appointment provides certainty for our staff, stakeholders and residents, and ensures the Shire remains focused on delivering services, projects and outcomes for our community.”
President Campbell also acknowledged the contribution of outgoing CEO Annie Riordan.
“Council thanks Annie Riordan for her dedication, leadership and service to the Shire of Harvey over the past eight years. Annie has made a significant contribution to the organisation and the community, and we look forward to working closely with both Annie and Tony during the handover period to ensure a seamless transition.”
Mr Nottle will remain in the role of Temporary CEO until the recruitment and appointment of a permanent CEO is completed.
