The Shire of Harvey has secured $34,000 through the State Government’s 2026 CCTV Grant Program to install two new Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at key locations across the district.
The cameras will be installed at the Collie River Bridge on Old Coast Road, Australind, and on South Western Highway in Brunswick Junction. These locations were identified as important entry and exit points into the Shire and will help strengthen community safety outcomes across the region.
ANPR technology captures vehicle registration details and can assist law enforcement agencies with investigations relating to crime, anti-social behaviour and vehicle movements.
The project will also include registration with the SaferCity Program and Cam-Map WA, helping to improve the integration and effectiveness of the camera network.
The initiative aligns with the Shire of Harvey’s Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan, which identifies the use of technology, partnerships and targeted crime prevention measures as important tools for maintaining safe and connected communities.
