The funding will allow the Shire to advance its bushfire mitigation program with an additional 20 treatments across the district.

Communities across the Harvey Region will be better protected from bushfires after the Shire of Harvey secured $183,077 through the State Government’s 2026–27 Mitigation Activity Fund.

The funding will allow the Shire to advance its bushfire mitigation program with an additional 20 treatments across the district.

The treatments will include a number of activities to reduce fuel loads and improve bushfire brigade access routes, including firebreak installation and maintenance, planned burning, and fence upgrades.

The new funding complements the Shire’s ongoing investment in emergency preparedness, including ongoing upgrades to the Leschenault Volunteer Bushfire Brigade building and community education initiatives.

The Shire thanks the State Government for its continued support in helping reduce bushfire risk and improve community safety across the Harvey Region.
