The Shire’s 2026–27 Annual Budget will deliver about $100 million in services, infrastructure and community investment, supported by approximately $35 million in rates revenue.
Every year, rates help fund the essential services and facilities our community relies on, from roads, parks and waste collection to libraries, recreation centres and community infrastructure.
Below are answers to some of the most common questions about rates.
How are rates calculated?
For each rateable property, Landgate provides a Gross Rental Value (GRV) or an Unimproved Value (UV).
- GRV is how much rent you would receive if you rented out your property.
- UV is the value of your land without any buildings that might be on it.
How much will I be paying?
Rates have increased by 7 per cent for the 2026–27 financial year.
This decision followed a comprehensive review of costs and the funding required to continue delivering essential services, maintaining infrastructure and investing in community assets.
For a typical residential ratepayer it equates to approximately $2–$3 per week more than last year.
When are rates due?
Rates will be issued shortly.
If paying in full, they are due by 4pm on Friday, 25 September 2026, with no administration fee.
You can also choose to pay by instalments.
- The two-payment option is due on 25 September 2026 and 27 November 2026.
- The four-payment option is due on 25 September 2026, 27 November 2026, 29 January 2027 and 2 April 2027.
Instalment options incur a 3% interest charge and an administration fee of $15 for two payments or $45 for four payments.
