After many months in the making, the Brunswick Junction Northern Entry Statement has been completed.
Local artist Anthea Bach designed the entry statement inspired by workshops with primary school children in Brunswick Junction.
Ms Bach said the bright colours celebrated the town’s diversity and the community’s love of the Brunswick Agricultural Show.
She said to represent the town’s dairy industry and encourage people to take photos with the artwork a cow would be installed as part of the design.
A local Holstein Friesian milking cow which was the recent winner in Senior, Grand and Supreme All Breeds Dairy Cow at the Brunswick Show will be the inspiration for the cow and will be completed in fine mosaic tile.
The artwork features individual ceramic tiles from school children in Brunswick Junction which forms part of the mosaic on the entry statement.
“As an interactive element to the artwork kids will be able to stand next to the cow, take a photo and imitate feeding her. This will encourage social media coverage, public interaction and therefore appreciation for the artwork.
“It is hoped the children involved will visit the artwork they have contributed to, now, and into the future.”
Harvey Shire Council President Paul Gillett said the bright colours in the design along with the interactive element of the dairy cow made it a great tourist attraction and something the kids would enjoy visiting for many years to come.
“This design really captures what Brunswick is about and by involving the local children they can own it and love it because they are a part of it,” Cr Gillett said.
