The Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre’s refurbished gym has opened its doors to the community.
The Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre’s refurbished gym is 40 percent larger with new noise reduction flooring, accessible automatic sliding doors and new equipment installed.
Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre Manager David Marshall said “it is a much more appealing and practical gym layout and provides a safer and more enjoyable environment for users.”
“The comments by members this week have been very favourable and we anticipate many new and former members will want to be a part of the new gym moving forward.
“It’s a magnificent improvement and important addition to the many services on offer to the community that are available each day at the Centre.”
There are a few more improvements to be made which will enable the gym to be used 24/7 and all members will be upgraded to a swipe card entry pass. This is expected to be rolled out in the new financial year.
The upgrades were part of the Centre’s five-year plan and the project was fast-tracked thanks to the Council’s COVID-19 funding.
