Shire Officers have been liaising with Department of Water and Environmental Regulation to determine when the facility will be reopened to the public.
Due to the facility becoming unsafe earlier this year the Shire, on behalf of the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), erected fencing to restrict access to the boardwalk and associated infrastructure.
Shire Officers have been liaising with DWER on a regular basis to determine when the facility will be reopened to the public.
The latest advice from DWER is that they recently arranged for a detailed structural assessment and they are currently considering all options. The assessment identified significant structural issues that will require extensive remedial works to be undertaken before the facility is safe for public use.
The Shire would like to see the facility opened as soon as possible, however it’s the responsibility of the State Government, who is responsible for the care, control and management of the infrastructure.
