Binningup acceleration lane construction begins

Binningup acceleration lane construction begins
05 Sep 2023

Construction will start on the 700m acceleration lane from Binningup Road to Forrest Highway northbound on 6 September.

Construction will start on the new 700 metre acceleration lane from Binningup Road to Forrest Highway northbound tomorrow, 6 September 2023.

Main Roads has advised motorists should expect a 24/7 lane closure on Forrest Highway, as well as speed reductions to 60 km/h.

TransWA will also temporarily relocate its northbound stop to the Binningup Roadhouse.

The acceleration lane project is expected to be completed by late November and includes:

  • Separate free-flow left turn-lane for northbound traffic exiting Binningup Road to Forrest Highway.
  • Dedicated 700-metre acceleration lane on Forrest Highway northbound, enabling traffic to reach appropriate speed and merge safely with through traffic.
  • New line-marking, lighting and signage.

Planning is continuing for further northbound acceleration lanes from Forestry Road and Preston Beach Road, as well as intersection improvements at Myalup Beach Road.

These additional works are expected to be completed in 2024.
