Leeuwin Scholarships

About the scholarship

Every year several scholarships are offered to young people aged 15 to 25 years living in the Shire of Harvey to participate in a Youth Explorer Voyage onboard the sailing ship STS Leeuwin II.

The Shire of Harvey has been supporting the Leeuwin Sail Training Program since 1989 with the valuable support of the Rotary Club of Harvey and the Lions Clubs of Harvey, Brunswick and Australind.

About the voyages

Every Leeuwin adventure is different! During the summer we sail south towards Albany and Esperance, in the winter we sail north towards Monkey Mia and Dampier. Youth Adventures stay in the close proximity to safe harbour, so don’t worry!

The Youth Explorer Voyage, aimed at young people aged 15 to 25 years and are supported by the Shire.

The ship leaves from Fremantle Port, sails for 7 days and returns to Fremantle Port.

Successful applicants will need to make their own way to and from Fremantle Port.

Find out more about the voyages on the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation website.

Applicants must:

Please note that the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation is not for profit, and all voyage costs go towards operation and maintenance of the vessel and Foundation.
