Council has approved the draft Reconciliation Action Plan for final review by Reconciliation Australia.
The Plan outlines practical actions the Shire will take to strengthen relationships with local Aboriginal communities.
Following Council’s decision, the Shire will now ensure the Plan aligns with Reconciliation Australia design requirements and send the completed document for review.
The Plan will be implemented once officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.
As part of the endorsement, Council also approved the establishment of a Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group.
The Working Group will bring together elected members and stakeholders to monitor progress over the life of the Plan.
Cr Laurie Morley and Cr Robyn Coleman were appointed by Council to the Working Group.
