The Shire of Harvey has completed the Harvey Bulls Football Club Changeroom Project.
Designed to meet AFL standards, the project has transformed the outdated changerooms into a modern, gender-neutral space featuring showers and toilet cubicles, a unisex room for umpires and additional storage space.
The improvements also carefully balance the need for contemporary facilities with the preservation of the site’s heritage, particularly the character of the Arthur Marshall Stand.
The changeroom has been carefully integrated into the existing structure, creating a seamless extension that maintains the character of the Stand while enhancing its functionality for today’s sporting community. Works were carried out by Civilcon (W.A.) Pty Ltd.
The $796,709 project was delivered through a partnership between the Shire of Harvey, the Alcoa Harvey Sustainability Fund, WA Football and the Harvey Bulls Football Club. It is also part of the WA Government’s PlayOn WA, an exciting initiative to deliver 2,030 community infrastructure items across WA by 2030.
The Harvey Bulls Football Club Changeroom Project ticks another box in the Shire of Harvey Sport and Recreation Plan 2033, delivering on the community’s vision for modern sporting facilities across the region.
Stakeholder statements:
Shire of Harvey President Michelle Campbell
“This project perfectly balances the need for an accessible, welcoming and contemporary facility with our commitment to preserving the heritage and character of the Harvey Recreation Ground.
“The Arthur Marshall Stand is an iconic part of Harvey’s sporting heritage, and great care was taken to ensure the new changeroom complements the existing structure and feels like a natural extension of the Stand rather than an addition.
“The Shire is proud to have worked with the Harvey Bulls Football Club and our project partners to deliver a facility that honours the ground’s history while preparing it for the future.”
Tom Busher – Manager Community Relations, Alcoa
“Community sporting clubs are often the heartbeat of regional towns and investing in the spaces they use is an investment in the people who make those clubs thrive. These upgraded facilities will support players, volunteers and families who dedicate countless hours to community sport.
“The Alcoa Harvey Sustainability Fund is proud to support projects that strengthen local connections and contribute to healthier, more active communities. This project is a great example of what can be achieved when organisations work together towards a shared goal.”
Steven Rose – Manager Facilities and Government Relations, WA Football
“Football has evolved significantly over recent years and it’s important that community infrastructure evolves with it. Modern changerooms need to accommodate players, officials and volunteers in a way that is inclusive, safe and accessible.
“These upgrades provide Harvey with facilities that align with contemporary AFL standards and support the continued growth of the game. They will help ensure local football remains strong and sustainable for future generations.”
Nola Marino – President, Harvey Bulls Football Club
“This project has been years in the making and it means a great deal to everyone involved with the Harvey Bulls Football Club. Our members have long recognised the need for improved facilities and it’s fantastic to see that vision become a reality.
“These changerooms provide a better experience for our players and visiting teams, while creating facilities the entire club can be proud of. We’re incredibly grateful to the Shire and our funding partners for helping deliver something that will benefit the club and wider community for decades to come.”
