Project overview
With over 300 current members, the Harvey Senior Citizens Centre offers a range of social and well-being activities every week.
However, with a growing proportion of seniors living in Harvey, the Centre is experiencing an increase in the demand for services and is unable to cater for this potential growth in its membership base. The expansion project will see the addition of a brand new social area, office space, accessible toilets and facade upgrades.
In July 2020, the Shire prioritised the upgrade of the Centre with Council allocating $482,000 towards the project.
As a key project of the Shire's Advocacy Priorities 2020 - 2021, the expansion received a further $610,000 from the Government of Western Australia - Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. It also received $150,000 from the Harvey Senior Citizens Centre.
The project reached Completion in April 2025 and was formally opened by Minister Stephen Dawson, Minister for Regional Development on 18 July 2025.
