Steps towards access, inclusion and comfort
The Shire of Harvey is delivering a nationally accredited Changing Places facility for $574,000, with a contribution of $224,795 from Department of Communities.
These additions mark a significant step forward in ensuring that everyone in the community can enjoy the park’s amenities with comfort and dignity.
Changing Places toilets are larger than standard accessible toilets and provide people with support needs access to suitable and safe bathrooms. Feedback from the Access and Inclusion Advisory Group has led to further design features, such as a sliding door in lieu of a swing door on the UAT cubicle for increased ease of access for wheelchair users.
The new amenities will feature:
- A fully equipped adult changing space designed to meet national standards and accessible via a MLAK (Master Locksmiths Access Key) system
- A height-adjustable adult-sized change table, automatic door and privacy screen.
- A Universal Access Toilet (UAT)
- Male and female ambulant toilets, designed with additional space and handrails to support people with mobility challenges.
The Changing Places facility will be located at the entry to the pool, ensuring convenience for users.
