The pirate ship at Binningup Foreshore Playground has been named Waabiny.
To celebrate the recent opening of the Binningup Foreshore Playground, completed with swings, shade sails and musical elements, we asked for community feedback to help us choose the name for the playground centre piece, the pirate ship.
Elder Dennis Jetta, Shire of Harvey President Paul Gillett and Shire Officers congratulated Kay for winning the competition with the name Waabiny, which is a Noongar word for play or play time.
Signage displaying the pirate ships new name, Waabiny will be installed shortly.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the naming competition.
