Shire of Harvey Council have agreed the Electoral Commissioner will be responsible for conducting the 2023 Ordinary Elections.

Shire of Harvey Council made two 2023 Ordinary Election decisions at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday, 28 March 2023.

During the Meeting, Council agreed that:

  • 1. In accordance with section 4.20(4) of the Local Government Act 1995, declares the Electoral Commissioner to be responsible for the conduct of the 2023 Ordinary Elections together with any other election or polls which may be required.
  • 2. Declares, in accordance with section 4.61(2) of the Local Government Act 1995 that the method of conducting the election will be as a postal election.

Council has previously conducted postal elections through the WA Electoral Commission to support the community's confidence in impartial and transparent elections.

The next Local Government Ordinary Election for the Shire of Harvey is due to be held on Saturday, 21 October 2023.
