The Binningup Skatepark Project is moving forward after Council endorsed funding at the 25 February 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting. Earlier this year, the Shire of Harvey asked community members to share ideas for projects in Binningup and Myalup. After public consultation, Council greenlit funding for the Binningup Skatepark and considered community feedback for projects in Myalup. Developing shared path trails was a very popular suggestion, but involves use of land that is not owned by the Shire. To address this, Council has asked the Shire to consolidate feedback and develop a plan for a Myalup-based project. Both projects are being supported by the Coastal Communities Fund, which was previously provided by the Water Corporation to help communities affected by the construction of the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant.
