We're making it easier for community members to save on energy bills and live more sustainably!

Do-It-Yourself Home Energy Audit Kits are now available to borrow from Australind and Harvey Libraries.

Each kit includes:

  • A thermal imaging camera to help you locate draughts around your home and gaps in insulation, for checking fridge seals, and measuring hot water temperature.
  • A plug-in energy monitor for measuring energy consumption and the running costs of appliances.
  • A basin flow measuring cup to determine the water flow rate of your taps
  • A thermometer for measuring the temperature of rooms, fridges, and freezers.
  • An instructional manual which explains how to conduct a variety of test.

Please note: These kits contain valuable and sensitive equipment. You may incur a fee if the item is not returned in the same condition in which it was loaned.

Community members must be registered library members and complete a simple consent form to borrow a kit.

The kits will be available for in-person collection and can be loaned for free for three weeks.

Kits should be returned in person at the library where they were collected, during opening hours.

These easy-to-use kits are part of a state-wide pilot program involving over 50 local councils, delivered in partnership with the State Government, Switch Your Thinking, and Energy Policy WA.

More than 100 libraries and Community Resource Centres across Western Australia are participating.

We're proud to support environmental sustainability initiatives and contribute to broader goals of reducing emissions and promoting energy efficiency across our community.
