Shire President Michelle Campbell and Deputy Shire President John Bromham recently had the opportunity to advocate for a greater police presence in Australind.

Shire President Michelle Campbell and Deputy Shire President John Bromham recently had the opportunity to advocate directly to state government on behalf of local residents for a greater police presence in Australind.

Safety and crime prevention emerged as a significant theme in the recent MARKYT Community Scorecard, especially from Australind, Binningup and Brunswick Junction residents. Many comments called for greater resourcing of Australind Police Station to provide services in Australind and surrounding communities.

During the meeting on 1 September, the Shire President and Deputy Shire President had the opportunity to share this community feedback with Minister for Police Hon Reece Whitby, Member for Collie-Preston Jodie Hanns and Southwest District Superintendent Paul van Noort.

The group discussed police numbers at Australind, and the challenges of growing the local police presence.

The Shire President highlighted the needs of our growing communities, and advocated strongly in support of gaining more police at Australind.
