Discover the magic of stories as they leap from the page to the screen. Each month, join our staff led discussions exploring books and their film adaptations- comparing, contrasting and diving into how stories transform on screen.

Whether you’re a regular reader or just getting back into books, everyone is welcome. It’s all about good books, great conversations and connecting with fellow book lovers.

When: First Monday of every month starting Monday, 4 August 2025

Who: Open to adults of all ages.

Book and Movie Club FAQ

What is the Book and Movie Club?

The Book and Movie Club is a community group that meets monthly to discuss a selected book and its movie adaptation. It's a great way to explore literature and film, and to meet new people with similar interests.

How often does the club meet?

The club meets on the first Monday of every month at 1.30pm at Australind Public Library.

How do I join the club?

You can join the club by signing up at the library's front desk or by emailing us at astaff@harvey.wa.gov.au

Is there a membership fee?

No, membership is free! All you need is a library card.

How are the books and movies selected?

Club members vote on the selections for the upcoming month at the end of each meeting. Suggestions are always welcome!

Do I need to read the book and watch the movie before the meeting?

It is recommended to read the book and watch the movie before the meeting to fully participate in the discussion.

What if I can't finish the book or movie in time?

No worries! You can still attend the meeting and enjoy the discussion. Just be aware that there may be spoilers.

Can I bring a guest?

Absolutely! Guests are welcome to attend a meeting to see if they’d like to join the club.

Are there any age restrictions?

The club is open to adults. Some books and movies may contain mature content.
