Book Buddies FAQ

What is Book Buddies?

Book Buddies is a fun and engaging reading club for kids aged 8-11. We meet weekly to read and discuss books, participate in activities, and foster a love for reading.

How often does the club meet?

The club meets every Wednesday (school term only) at 3.30pm in the children's section of the  Australind Public Library.

How do I sign my child up for the club?

You can sign up at the library's front desk or by emailing us at astaff@harvey.wa.gov.au

Is there a membership fee?

No, membership is free! All you need is a library card.

How are the books selected?

Books are selected by the event officer with input from the kids. We aim to choose a variety of genres and reading levels to keep things interesting.

Does my child need to read the book before the meeting?

Yes, it's encouraged for kids to read the book before the meeting to fully participate in the discussion and activities.

What if my child can't finish the book in time?

That's okay! They can still attend the meeting and enjoy the activities. We understand that everyone reads at their own pace.

Do I need to stay with my child?

Parents need to stay in the library, but the club is designed to be a kid-focused space. We encourage parents to let their children participate independently.

Are there any special events or activities?

Yes! We often have themed activities and challenges.
