Native Wildlife

Sick or injured wildlife (kangaroos)

Ranger Services are not trained or permitted to treat or care for any sick or injured native wildlife. Any issues relating to sick or injured native wildlife should be directed to the Wildcare Helpline , 9474 9055. This helpline is managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.

​Deceased Animals

  • Private property  If a deceased animal is on private property, the property owner is responsible for its appropriate removal and disposal.
  • Main Roads and Highways If a deceased animals is found on the Forrest Highway, South Western Highway, Marriott Road, Raymond Road or the Coalfields Highway, please contact Main Roads 138 138.
  • Shire owned property and townsites deceased animals located on Shire property or areas within a townsite will be removed by Shire Staff. Please contact Ranger Services Monday to Friday, 9729 0333, to arrange removal.

Swooping magpies

Magpies usually begin swooping during the breeding season (August to October).
