Lot 100 Lake Preston Road (100 Acre Wood) Walking Trails

"Developed by members of the Myalup Community Association, this 3.6km walking trail network is located in an area of approximately 100 acres. Traversing through sand dunes and virgin remnant tuart forest, the trails provide views of the southern portion of Lake Preston and the Darling Range and are home to a variety of small animals and insects. Suitable for walkers and trail runners, the trails are an important recreational experience for locals and tourists and are worthy of an upgrade and re-design including links to Lake Josephine, to maximise the -landscape and improve trail quality and experience."

-Harvey Region Trails Adventure Master Plan

The Shire of Harvey carried out an extensive Coastal Community Consultation in Myalup and Binningup from 2024-2025, where we asked community members to share ideas for projects in their communities for the Coastal Communities Fund (Significant Project) allocation.

Council voted to develop a concept plan for trail upgrades in the 100 Acre Woods, in response to multiple suggestions received for improvements to the walking trails at 100 Acre Woods during this consultation process.

We are now working with a consultant that specialises in trails  to gather community input on the level of upgrades needed for existing paths, signage, parking, site markers, and more. A detailed concept plan will be developed to help us seek funding for these works.

This concept plan will allow us to investigate and define:

  • Signage
  • Parking
  • Trail markers
  • Formalisation of trails using limestone or other suitable materials
  • Stairs along steep sections (if required)
  • Seating (if required)

The plan will include estimated costings for these items. Council approval to proceed and secure funding for detailed design and construction will be sought once the plan is complete. If Council approves, funding will be sought in March 2026, with works projected to commence in the 2026/27 financial year.

Separately, there is also a budget allocation to develop a plan for improving the beach precinct, which will commence once the required geotechnical surveys are completed.

Get involved

Want to have your say in the development of the concept plan? There are two ways to get involved:

Community meeting

Have your say on the 100 Acre Woods Trails!

The Shire of Harvey is working with Kulbardi Hill Consulting to seek input from the Myalup community on how you would like to use and enjoy the 100 Acre Woods trails. Your ideas will help us understand what improvements are most important. The feedback gathered will be used to develop a plan that will guide future upgrades, seek Council approval, and support funding applications.

Venue: Myalup Community Centre
Date: Wednesday, 24 September
