The Shire of Harvey has welcomed two new Councillors and two returning Councillors to Council 2025-2027.
The Shire of Harvey has welcomed a new Council term, following the 18 October 2025 Local Government Election. Laurie Morley and Karen McCarthy have joined the Shire of Harvey Council. Meanwhile, Craig Carbone and Wendy Dickinson have been returned to their seats. The new and returning Councillors were welcomed at a Swearing-In ceremony held Monday, 20 October 2025. Shire of Harvey President Michelle Campbell said the new Council term would bring a great mix of governance experience, enthusiasm, and fresh thinking. “It’s especially wonderful to see Council feature such strong representation from different communities within our Shire,” the Shire President said. “Our newly Elected Members and returned Councillors bring perspectives from Harvey, Mornington, Leschenault and Brunswick Junction. I am sure this will further enrich Council decision-making and result in increasingly positive outcomes. “I want to congratulate Cr Morley and Cr McCarthy on their appointment to Council. I would also like to extend my congratulations to Cr Carbone and Cr Dickinson on being chosen once again to represent the community.” After the Swearing-In Ceremony, a Special Council Meeting was held where Cr Craig Carbone was elected Deputy Shire President. Cr Carbone takes the baton from Cr John Bromham, who brought professionalism, positivity and a collaborative mindset to the role during his term. Today, the Shire also farewelled outgoing Councillors James Junio, Dakota Krispyn and Joe Capogreco. Shire President Michelle Campbell said their contributions had made a lasting impact on the community and it had been a pleasure to work with them. “On behalf of Council, I’d like to acknowledge and thank former Councillors Junio, Krispyn and Capogreco for their service to the Harvey Region. “I know our community will benefit for many years to come thanks to their insight, commitment and efforts while serving on Council.” Over the next few weeks, the Shire of Harvey will deliver a variety of activities and presentations to support the new and returned Councillors. This will include presentations on Budget planning and financial management processes, an introduction to the services the Shire provides, land use planning, Council planning and community engagement. A bus tour to help Councillors familiarise themselves with facilities, projects and priorities across the Shire will also be arranged. The Shire President said it would be both a busy and exciting period. “We have the October Ordinary Council Meeting pencilled in, so right away Council 2025-2027 are getting stuck into it,” she said. “I’m thrilled to begin this Council term with our new and returning Elected Members. “I’m so excited for the year ahead and the opportunities we’ll have moving forward to make a positive impact across the Shire.”
