Subdivision proposals are determined by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), a State Government Agency tasked with implementing and overseeing planning and development services throughout Western Australia. However, part of the process required includes referring any application off to relevant authorities, such as the Shire of Harvey.
The Shire will assess a subdivision application, having regard to relevant policy provisions and the District Planning Scheme. It is then that the Shire will provide comment regarding the proposal, its appropriateness and any potential conditions that should be imposed.
If conditional approval is granted, it is up to the applicant to liase with the various referral authorities (such as Department of Water, etc) to gain clearance of all the conditions provided. Once these clearances have been fulfilled, the applicant must request a clearance letter from the Shire.
